Bring on the 2012 season!
We hope you’re having fun in the sun this summer and not to mention training hard for the up and coming 2012 season. Lacrosse Victoria (LV) has been busy in the off season and is excited to announce several initiatives for 2012. LV was successful receipient of a State Sporting Associations Participation Program 2011 – 2014 (SSAPP) grant. The SSAPP is a pilot program administered by Vic Health which aims to increase participation in community sport and active recreation, particularly among priority populations, such as people with a disability, Indigenous Australians, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, women and girls. LV in conjuction with Vic Health will focus on the priority area of increasing participation of women and girls in lacrosse. The SSAPP will also see LV implement the‘Everyone Wins’ initiative which focuses on building healthier sporting environments that are safe, accessible, inclusive and equitable.
LV has also engaged VicSport to develop the 2012 – 2015 strategic plan (SP). At present LV is analysising the feedback from clubs to determine priorities for the next three years, However, what I can share with you is that the main focus of this plan will be ‘growth’.
Good luck for the 2012 season.
John Harris, President
