What’s’ been going on since my last message…LOTS!!
Over the past week the Aussie Under 19 squad has been in Melbourne for a training camp.
92 Kids from Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne gathered for a very rigorous training camp. 5 of our boys took part in what was described as “The Week from Hell”…
Nic Chapman,Darcy Campbell,Daniel Taylor,Tim Graham & Jordan Campbell.
I was able to be there to witness most of the proceedings and our boys were “Super”.
Enduring 40c temperatures for the first two days they were put through a “Boot Camp” style scenario of physical testing, mental testing and lacrosse skills testing culminating into the squad being split into teams and playing real games of lacrosse.
I would just like to say that ALL of our boys excelled and have come out of this camp much improved in all areas I have mentioned and represented our club with Valour.
What a bonus for MLC!!
But wait !…Not just the U19 Malvern boys endured the heat. Our very own
Jeff Campbell is a “Australian U19 state based coach” and was also in the thick of things for the 5 days. Putting the squad through their paces and guiding them in ways to improve their game is just as demanding as training.
Thanks for being a mentor to the young lads Jeff!
I would also like to report that Will Leong “HOUSE” played in the Under23 Australian Squad against the Under 19s and he looked Good!

During the week Matt Schomburg who now resides in New York and is renowned to be the best Face Off coach in the world held a “Fogo Lax” clinic at the Maribyrnong Secondary College and it was First Class.
Mitchell Baker,Thom and Steve Bown,Ryan Godber,Aaron Currie,Patty Mac, Anthony Jenkinson,Cam Mac and Billy and Toby Exton (10 in Total) from our club found the time to attend.
Positive,Positive and Positive!! as all of our guys learnt heaps!!
MLC already has an in house Face Off program up and running and we will be expanding this program in 2015.
Under the guidance of Coach Glenn Meredith, we will be tapping further into Matt Schomburg’s philosophies and striving to be the No 1 face off gang in Victoria.
Of the 23 attendees to this clinic 10 were from Malvern and after discussions with “Schomby” we have organised for him to continue monitoring and mentoring our Face Off guys.
He will be returning in May and MLC has booked him for a day of his tutoring.
If we can get First use of the ball the other gangs will be chasing us.
Currently we are in the process of finalising Pre Season training details for both Women’s and Men’s
teams and I would expect that in my next report it will be finalised.
Speaking to Coach Meredith it will more than likely be MONDAY evening 2nd or 9th of Feb.(Venue T.B.A.)
I have seen a few of our players around the traps the past few days and I noticed that some “Have been running” and some “Have Not been running”…

Juniors
The post season 2014 took on a different flavour than the previous year with many of the kids participating in the SILL.
This completed pre Christmas, and now we are focusing our attention on providing the kids with a summer program that accommodates ( like every year) the transition of our kids into a different age bracket, and enhances their skills.
On going dates, locations and times will be provided shortly, however a casual clinic will be held for the U11/ U13 this Sunday 11th Jan at 0930 at Menzies Reserve.
