The day where we catch up will all the “Malvern Family” and celebrate Lacrosse at the Town Hall..
The Day will have on show, 4 games from juniors, all the way up to the ‘Big One’ being that of State League.
During the day we will have everything to cater for you throughout the day, including a delicious ‘HOT’ lunch,drinks,coffee/tea and even snacks for the kids.
You get all this whilst you watch some very exciting Lacrosse and catch up with friends that you possibly haven’t seen in a long time.
If you’re interested also we will have merchandise on hand to purchase including, hoodies,Trackpants,T-shirts, beanie’s and even keyrings.
It promises to be the biggest day on record with many of the Malvern faithful committed to attendance. Come along to celebrate and support our club and make sure you bring a friend to introduce them to this great sport!
Don’t be the one to miss out!
Are you free?
With all that is happening tomorrow, the call for help is being sounded. The regular crew is on hand for serving but it is a lot to ask of them to man the ‘battle stations’ ALL DAY.
If you can lend a hand and share the load, it will give those people a chance to see their son’s,boyfriends or husbands play in their respective games.
Make sure you see ‘Leanne’ and she’ll be able to slot you in at an appropriate time to help out. The more help we get, the less work for the few…
…and I wont get my ears bashed on the way home! : )

Game Day Reports!
13th/14th June UPDATE
State League
Footscray at Footscray…Win 12 to 10
An extremely important win for us against the top side in the context of staying in touch with the top 2 and l make no apologies for playing some players out of position and giving those that trained both nights more game time than those that haven’t.
We got the win yes and our season is very much on track but there is much to work on especially our bench discipline, l understand that we are all extremely competitive people at Malvern and “I LOVE THAT” and is why l coach here but it must be channelled in the right direction but what is best for the team to be successful on game day must come first, second and third. Please understand I include myself in this statement…
We welcomed Harry Cotter and Robby Maddux to the team and they have no doubt strengthened our attack and will only get better when we have played 4 or 5 games together, exciting times ahead for the rest of the season.
At the same time as we welcome Harry and Robby we say goodbye to Jon Lilburne who has been an enormous tower of strength in D and as competitive bloke as I’ve ever met.
Good luck to you and your brother Cam back in the States Jon we wish you all the best mate, your welcome back anytime.
Williamstown and past players day with a big crowd this Sat at the Town Hall. I look forward to this day every year and know the players do as well and again we haven’t beaten Williamstown since 2002 and that really pi#%es me off…

Div 1
Malvern Division 1 played at home to Moreland Lacrosse Club at the Town Hall.
The boys were expecting a tough game against Moreland, who were undefeated at the time. But the boys got off to a flying start after an early goal from Moreland. Aaron Currie got the scoring started and we ended the quarter 2-1.
The 2nd and 3rd quarter went along smoothly. The attack, led by Travis Croll, was patient and took the rights shots while defence were as solid as they have been all season.
With Malvern 8-3 up at the start of the 4th quarter Moreland started to fight back but the team kept calm and ended up giving Moreland their first defeat of the season 9-7.
Special mention to Drew for his first Division 1 game (2-2), Jay for another solid display in goals and Tim Graham for his return to div 1 from injury and dominating the face off.
Division 1 are finding some terrific form so bring on Willy at Past Players day!

Div 3
Malvern 10 Eltham 14
Malvern travelled to Eltham to take on the top side on Saturday.
The game started well but Eltham took over to lead 7 to 4 at half time.
The boys rallied in the 3rd Quarter to cut the lead back by 1 at the break.
Early in the last quarter the guys dug deep to get level with Eltham with 5 minutes to go when Louis McKenzie went down with an ankle injury and the momentum shifted the other way with Eltham scoring 4 quick goals to finish the game off.
Best: Stephen Bown, Rod Finnigan, Tom Bown, Louis McKenzie.
Goals and Assists: Rod Finnigan 5-0, Brendan Farrell 2-2, Stephen Bown 0-3,Louis McKenzie 1-1, Tom Bown 1-0, Rob Lowe 1-0, Anthony Bosisto 0-1, Darian Panter 0-1.
U17’s
V Caulfield
This game, was one that all the team were anxious to get to, being 2nd verse 3rd on the ladder!
It was apparent that the nerves got the better of the boys today as we started off very flat! So much so that at 1/4 we were 2-0 down.
Ok, 2/4 time to start again, jitters gone and we got back into the rhythm posting 3 unanswered goals to go to the halftime break 3-2 up…good.
3/4 starts and runs it’s course with both teams scoring 3 goals a piece! This was the test to see how the boys handle the pressure of a team nipping at their heels..
As we head into the final quarter, it was apparent that Caulfield were getting desperate and started throwing their sticks around trying to intimidate our guys. Even when receiving a ‘bar check’ to his back, Aaron didn’t retaliate to his credit and we were ‘Man Up’ for 2 minutes due to that.
Tim in the middle, with Thomas and Max on the wings is a very handy line up and winning the ball from ‘X’ reaped it’s reward. 5 goals to 1, making it a 11 -6 win was very satisfying in the end as the boys pulled together and got the job done.
Nice to have Danny Taylor (4g) helping Aaron (5g) back on the forward line as they work well with match ups. A special mention to U15 Mitch Baker for helping out with numbers as he held his own against some older boys.
Defense is solid with Harry,Sam & Alex ‘getting noisy’ and making the opposition 2nd guess whether to dodge or not…Good!
Fintan loves running….loves it! He’s a great physical presence and once he’s 100% match fit…look out!
Jake is another ball taxi and improves each week as is Alfred who is coming along well following direction and team plays.
Chappy in goals is very good, problem is, he’s so good in attack as well!
Your time to shine is coming Chappy!
This week…Willliamstown. Another game, another test for the boys who are on the road towards finals….bring it!
U13 Girls
U/13 girls had a disappointing loss to a young Williamstown team that have improved a lot since last time we played them. It certainly wasn’t our best game and we know we can do better, heads up girls next week is another game and another opportunity to show how good our skills are. The Caulfield girls are coming over to Malvern this week to train which will really help our team game.
U15 Girls
U/15 girls played a great team game on Sunday, meg and Paige made great position in attack and Brooke dominated the centre draws, Sarah and Emma were everywhere, Making fantastic transition and sliding defensively at perfect times! All the Malvern girls were integral to the scoring opportunities. We didn’t win the game but it was fantastic to see the team contributions and developments in the girls!! Well done
U11 Blacks
A nice morning at Malvern, where Malvern blacks hosted Surrey Park.
From the very beginning we could tell that this was going to be a highly competitive and well fought out game.
Alex Jackson started in goals for us, and continued her high standards with some impressive saves early in the game. Alex’s ability to stand tall and block space makes it difficult to be scored against.
Will Rice, Matthew Arnold and Danielle Mitchell began in the midfield and worked extremely hard collecting some solid ground balls, providing great run and playing accountable lacrosse.
Ben Godber began in defence, and read the ball the well collecting some nice intercepts and providing great rebound out of defence.
Liam Barnes began in attack, and with early goals was rewarding his team mates for all their hard work around the ground.
The game progressed goal for goal throughout the morning, and as we headed into the last quarter we knew it was going to be tight.
The kids continued to work hard, demonstrated high skill levels, and looked to bring their team mates into the game.
As the final bell rang, the Blacks fell short 12 – 13.
This was the most impressive U11 game that we have seen, with both teams demonstrating great skills and sportsmanship, which was supported by coaches and supporters from both sides.
A big thanks to Chris Ive for refereeing and Claire Barnes for scoring.
Regards
Adam Barnes
