Under 11 Carnival

The annual carnival for the under 11’s is due to take place on Saturday 23rd of August running from 9.30 am until about 1.00 pm. At this stage we are seeking interest from clubs which may have an extra team to enter, either girls or boys. As the number of players on the field is 6 including a goalie, so if you have a large under 11 team and would split for the day that could be accommodated.

There is currently room for at 3 extra teams, so we request entry of teams to be made by C.O.B Tuesday 12 August to the office at secretary@lacrossevictoria.com.au all current under 11 teams are expected and will be fixtured to play on that day, so if your team is unable to play please also let us know.

Match Reports

State League

State League played MCC at home.

Needing the 4 points to stay alive for Finals the boys knuckled down to a hard slog.

Pat did the job again in the “Muddy” middle at the MCG.

Tight for the first and second, we took control of the game after Half time.

Going 6 up late in the game MCC came at us and got a couple back but we powered home to win by 5

Now sitting Second on the ladder we must continue to work hard to play in Finals.

Good all round solid effort.

Final score Malv 16 v MCC 11.

Cheers Gus

Division 1

A team of div 1 & div 3 players headed out to MCC again for what was always going to be a tough gig.

We had the likes of ‘Zook’ and Will James helping out as we took on ‘team Canada’.

First 1/4 the damage was done with them posting 9 goals!

Poor preparation in warm up was probably the key, letting them get away so early.

Cam Mc mustered the troops and slowly the gears started turning and passages of play presented themselves for some good team goals.

Without their head start, the score line would have been a lot closer but 4 quarters wins games.

Hats off to ‘Pauly’ as he did an admirable job in goals and thanks to Pinky and Rod for bolstering numbers.

B.O.G goes to Cam Mc,Zook & Will.

This Saturday we play Surrey Park at Surrey

Division 3

Div 3 gave a walkover to Altona this week. We are hanging on to 4th position on the ladder a game clear plus percentage ahead of MCC who we play this weekend. So we must put this one away to secure our spot for the finals.

Under 18’s

The Under 18s Played Melb Uni at home this week.

Having played a very good team game last week it was important to continue in a Team orientated manner.

Playing the bottom team was a mental hurdle to get over , striving to perform at our best.

The boys played a TOTAL Team game with 11 goal scorers to run out winners 26-1

Congratulations to Nick Maher for scoring his first goal of the year with a LONG pole.

This week we play Moreland at Home which will be a bigger test as they sit 2nd on the ladder.

A good practice session this Thursday and we will be Hunting for them.

Cheers Gus.

Under 13’s

U 13 payed at a slippery Camberwell.

We had a bench again today with James Suffolk and Gibbo coming up from the U11’s, both contributed well to the game with James S scoring a goal.

Looks like young Ben Godber is a permanent recruit with a handy 3 assists to his name, a lovely one to his brother at that.

Everyone played a great game today, Ben Freeman fought hard for every ball, Brooke and Justin won ground ball contest all day, Justin scoring a goal too. Frank, Byron and Wilko worked tirelessly around the ground all game too. Garrett played in goals for the first half and made his presence felt back on ground in the second with 2 goals and 2 assist. Brooke very reluctantly went in goals in the second half and made some great saves. Paige unfortunately came off early in the game.

Jacinta won her first face, well done, first of many I’m sure. Lochie and Ryan showed there strength in face offs and leading around the ground with Lochie scoring 7 goals and 1 assist and Ryan 3 goals and 7 assists.

Our work on the ground great, the kids worked hard in D backing up shots and winning ground balls to get the ball down to our attack. Well done!!

For most of you, enjoy the week off and the others, have a great game in U15’s, you’ll be nice and fresh they won’t know what hit them!!

Malvern won 14-4
