Update from the Prez

Afternoon everyone.
With the season starting just around the corner, there’s a few things that need to be ‘refreshed’ so we have a smooth start to the season

1. Umpiring courses:

If you’re interested in helping out the club with much needed umpires, there are courses on Sunday morning (women’s) and Monday night (Men’s). Accreditation lasts 2yrs and needs to be update as such.
Women’s: Sunday 30th March 9am – 12pm Monash,Caulfield Campus.H Building – Lecture Theatre 36
Men’s: Monday 31st March 6.30pm – 9pm Sports House Training room. Albert Park

2. Training Tues/Thurs at the Town Hall:

Yes we’re back. We have access to the ground but due to the cricketers making the G/F (well done) we’ll have to wait another week to obtain the rooms. Training starts Tuesday/Thursday for seniors at 6.30pm (ready to go) and 5pm on Thursday for juniors.

3. Fees:

Yes unfortunately it’s a necessity and out of our hands but needed to run the club each year.
Seniors – $370 (receive a game day under shirt)
Under 18 – $250 (receive a game day under shirt)
Under 15 – $215 (receive a game day under shirt)
Under 13 – $180 (sell a box of chocolates)
Under 11 – $170 (sell a box of chocolates)

4. Practice match on 12th April v Vic u18:

Malvern has been selected to put the Under 18 Victorian State team through their final hit out before Nationals!
Come down to the Town Hall at 1pm to watch some of the young Lacrosse talent getting around and spot our ‘Malvern Members’ that earned their spot in the team!
A BBQ along with the usual drinks will be on hand during the day.

5. Mouth guard requirement:

Yes all grades will be required to wear mouthguards as requirement from LV.
Make sure you’re fitted up before first game as the refs will be looking for them.
(Did see a red and black version that looked quite good!)

6. Coaching announcement.

It has been delayed but this will be announce ASAP but in the meantime there are a ‘core’ of dedicated members putting the lads through their paces each week. Just ask any one about “Rooy’s Boot Camp” that he takes at the end of the sessions.

7. Working bee on the 6th April (first Sunday)

As I mentioned earlier our occupation of the clubrooms is delayed with the cricketers but we should get keys this time next week. Our annual ‘working bee’ where we can make it our 2nd home for another season is here again.
If you have some spare time to help in ‘setting up’ the rooms it would be most appreciated.
There will be some early birds but from anytime from 10am? onwards would be good.

8. Working with Children:

Working with Children Checks can now be renewed on line which means you will no longer need to go to Australia Post to lodge a paper form and present your current card.

If your card is out of date, log onto the WWCC site and keep your card updated. When you have details updated, can you send your number through to Phil Garrett (secretary) for his records.

Looking forward to catching up with you all as we start another season with the “Red & Black!’
