Positions Available:

Once again the wheels are in motion for season 2013. Players are going through their paces on the track and more and more fresh faces are showing up each week.
Not only are the players getting ready but there is also people behind the scene doing the little things to help get Malvern ready for the first round.
There still is a lot of jobs/tasks that need an extra help with and this could be the opportunity for you to help out in some way.
I thought I’d put up a certain few so people can get an idea of how many jobs are actually needed to run a club.

Website: A few hours once the season starts, updating and sending out this very email to all the members/players to advise them on what’s going on at the club each week.
You’ll have all the information sent to you (coaches reports, social nights etc) and its just a matter of copy and paste onto the template already set up then upload to the website.
Brendon Farrell will oversee everything and be available for help when needed. If you’re PC savvy,it should be relatively easy.

Merchandise Officer: Being a part of the ‘red and black army’ getting the colors out for all to see.
This will include ordering and selling all the Malvern merchandise from keyrings,t-shirts,caps etc to members and better still….’non members’ ; )
This would be an easy job as all the gear would already be designed and sourced. It would only be a matter of taking orders or selling existing stock we already have.

Canteen helper: Ideally if we could get volunteers week to week then it wouldn’t be left up to the few individuals that get stuck behind the bar serving and miss out on seeing the game altogether.
In turn they only hear about such feats as the ‘Joe Forster Goosestep’, the ‘Save Dave’ the ‘Goon scissor dodge’ or dare I say..the ‘Boppa snipe’ (as rare as Halleys comet….next sighting in 77 yrs!)
Ideally a team of helpers could serve a 1/4 each and keep the canteen clicking over during game time keeping the spectators happy and full.
Also in this department is the classic ‘Thursday Night dinners’. Nothing better than coming to training to get a ‘home cooked meal’ on a cold wet night.
Usually at capacity when the word gets out that ‘Winnie’ is cooking!

Ground Marking: Once the initial ground has been set out, then it’s just going over the lines each Saturday to make the field more visible.
Usually the team of Fab,Rocket and Gaz get stuck with it each week rain hail or shine. Setting up tables, chairs and a scorers tent eg would be a great help for the games from U12 to seniors.
An additional helper for an hour on Saturday means they could get their ‘Georgio’s’ coffee quicker.

If anyone is interested in helping, your offer will be immensely appreciated. The more helpers we have to muster, the more productive we will be, thus enabling Malvern to run well.

Old Gear:

Did you get looked after at Christmas or your birthday with new gear? What’s the old pair of arm guards doing in the laundry?
If you have any old equipment that isn’t getting used, would you like to sell or donate to some ‘newbies’ starting out?
As we have more and more players getting involved I’m sure they’d be happy with a ‘worn in’ pair of gloves or cheaper helmet to get them started in lacrosse.
Girls sticks and goggles are welcome as we have junior girls starting this year too!
We might have a ‘Car boot sale’ day where you can bring up some old gear to get rid of and go to a new home when we get the rooms back.
This way you’re decluttering the laundry, shed wherever your unwanted stuff lives and giving it a 2nd life to someone in need.
P.s The first ‘Car bay stall’ is reserved for ‘Curly and Rita’ as they have 1 container full of ‘Joffa’s gear’. (from the states mind you!) ; )

LV Conference

Big thank you to Mike Naughton and Dave Joy for attending the LV Conference on Saturday just passed.
It’s a big day where all the clubs have to have 2 representatives to go and attend and listen to the latest feedback via LV.
Failure to have ‘2’ instigates a fine to the club so many thanks go to them for ‘donating’ their Saturday to help the club out.
