Game Day Reports!

Under 11’s

A beautiful morning greeted U11’s out at the prestigious Albert Ground, home to MCC Lacrosse Club.

With three (3) players unavailable, a very competent six (6) players were ready to tackle a young MCC team.

With no subs it was a chance for the young and enthusiastic Toby Bown to strut his stuff for a full game and he was happy to start in goals.

The game started as expected, with Malvern dominating the ground, and Liam Barnes shooting a couple of early goals.

Jake Sedy and Matt Arnold had the chance to run the ground and that they did all game.

Riley Suffolk continued to work hard and pick up his ground balls ( and shoots more on his left than right ), and Seth Lewis has shown he listens and now cradles comfortably  displaying great ball carry.

Ultimately our kids had another Saturday together playing the game they love.

A comprehensive win and next week Camberwell at home.

With thanks,

Adam Barnes

Division 1

Character building or heart breaking can be associated with Division 1 this year due to the revolving door of player availability, and the closeness of so many losses.

As we hosted Footscray at home it looked like it was status quo with nearly 10 players out between state league and Div 1.

12 guys took to the field, our very own Louis McKenzie arrived minus his boots, and the game was on ( he found a pair).

With Steve and Tom Bown, Tim Laidlaw and Brendan Farrell playing up, we knew we had guys who could play every quarter.

In line with tradition we were down early, due to lack of goals and match ups defensively and as we went into half time down 3-5.

At the long break we knew we could work back into the game and that we did.

At the final siren we were all square and into sudden death.

Early in sudden death the man of the moment Louis McKenzie and his arms and legs stepped up shooting it in the top corner.

Relief

9-8 win

Great group of guys / Winners are Grinners,

With thanks,

Adam Barnes

Under 13’s

“The boys had a good win against Surrey red on the weekend. Had to play 8 on 8 which gave us some subs for some hard running. There was a lot of back and forth running but it all paid off in the end when we used the ball in attack and spread out.

Great game by everyone. See you Thursday for some more fun”
