News – 19th January 2015

I would like to first of all announce the arrival of Andrew (Drew) Bracken. Drew is a Baltimore boy from a very Intense Lacrosse Family.
He is here to have a working holiday and play lax at Malvern and help coach Juniors.
This is a bit of an amazing story as I played Lax with Drew’s dad JR Bracken back in 1984 in Baltimore
as did my brother Jeff in 1986 and his mum Susan was JR’s girlfriend back then. I also had many cups of tea with his Grandfather Mr Bob Scott in his office talking Lacrosse for hours. JR and myself made contact via e-mail mid 2014 and have been chatting ever since.
30 Years later…Welcome Drew to the Malvern Family !!

As mentioned in my previous report I have been bumping into players and club members over
the past few weeks.
Speaking with Joey “High Stepper” Forster recently and I would like to mention that Joey has invented a training “technique” for under arm style shooting.
Joey said he has developed a stratagem to be able to “Hit a missile from 20 yards” left OR right hand.
Joey would like to pass on his knowledge to Malvern guys so when we get back to Pre Season training
make sure you ask him how.

Pre-Season training for ALL will most likely start onMonday 9th Feb at the Town Hall 6.00pm
however I am still waiting for confirmation from the Stonington Council and will confirm in my next report.

In the mean time Yibbida Yibbida and “Go for a RUN”
Gus.

!! CONGRATULATIONS !!!

Bridget Hogan Bridget Hogan on being selected in the Under 19 Australian Girls Team.
Bridget started her Lacrosse career at Malvern before moving to Caulfield.
In a very short (approx 3years) career Bridget has amazed many people with her hard work and relentless desire to be the best.
To be selected in an Australian side you must put in the hard yards.
Proud parents Cheryl and Tony have also put in the hard yards driving Bridget to all the training sessions and providing her with a huge amount of emotional support.
Well done Hogan’s and we are all behind you Bridget as you take on “The World”.
