It is with much sorrow that I am informing all members of the Malvern Lacrosse Club, of the passing of Brian Murphy.
Last week, we lost a member of the Malvern Lacrosse Family.
Brian Murphy passed away after a long battle with Emphysema.
Although sometimes life choices take us away from things or people in our past, that doesn’t mean they are forgotten..
I asked Norm Coleman to share a word about Brian to put out to all members..
**
Brian was a hard training solid player who was a member of 74 C grade, 77 and 81 B Grade Premiership teams.
He played State League at both Malvern and later MCC. Brian had many friends and supported the club in many ways.
He encourage anyone who pulled on the Malvern jumper and was always ready to help them improve.
Brians most successful year was as playing/coach of the Under 19 side in 1976 that went through the season undefeated only to lose the grand final by a small margin.
Many of this team went on to play state league and hold various coaching and playing positions in the club.
Brian’s funeral was attended by a number of past players and whilst he hadn’t been seen for a number of years due to moving to the country he will be missed by many,
Cheers Brian.
Thanks Norm.
