Stop the Press!

There is a new Postman as of next week to take on the responsibility of getting the mail out.

Geoff Finnigan has accepted the job of making sure all information is sent out to the masses on all things Malvern Lacrosse.

Thanks Geoff for putting your hand up to take on this task.

If you want something sent out contact Geoff and he’ll slot it in to a mail out.

Janey the cleaning Lady

Another of the Malvern faithful has taken on making sure that the clubrooms are spick and span.

Jane Bown (Sticky’s wife) will be in every 2 weeks to mop,vac and clean the rooms to keep them up to scratch.

She can handle the basics but this is not a open ticket to throw stuff anywhere.

Make sure your strapping tape, empty drink bottles all goes in the bin.

She has 2 little kids that she picks up for, she doesn’t need any extras.

Slowly the wheels are moving as more and more people are volunteering to help out.

If you are free and would like to help the club in some small way, make yourself known to myself or one of the committee and we can point you in the right direction.

Lightening the load on the few who wear many ‘caps’, will be much appreciated in helping run the club.

Last 2 weeks from the coach…
MCC vs Malvern
The first game of the 2013 season saw a very different looking Division 3 team take to the field with a combination of experience and youth.

We started of slowly as everyone was getting used to playing with each other and knowing what to expect, by the second half of the first quarter the team felt more at ease with what they were going and the ball was moving well.

What impressed me the most was the amount of time that a player could have taken the shot but elected to find that extra pass to an open man and the exciting part was this was mainly from our juniors.

In the last quarter the extra pass slipped away due to been tired but we still found the goal five times and this could have been more if the shots were on the ground.

At the final siren we had a convincing win and it was great to see 10/15 players been on the scoreboard with a goal or assist, it was only the defenders that were not part of the scoring opportunity.

Geoff Finnigan summed up the feeling by saying on FaceBook “2, 3, 4, 7, 17 and 10. Just some numbers to watch this year at Malvern. Boy some of those kids have got great skills, guts and wheels. Well played today. I’m looking forward to this year. These kids are going to fly”

Malvern vs Surrey Park

Division 3 played Surrey Park on Friday under lights at Surrey.

For many players it was the first time they have had the opportunity to play at night and this may contribute to our slower start in the early part of the first quarter.

Pauly player a brilliant game in the cage and we had a guest appearance from Glenn Meredith on the attack line, it was one of the best games I have been involved with Division 3, the ball movement was good and many times finding that extra man to take the shot.

Yet again our junior player stepped up with great skills and knowledge beyond their year of the game.

After having a 4 goal lead we ended up going down by 2 to what must be considered a very stacked Surrey Park team.
