Scouts Clinic / Christchurch update
David Gal and Colin Molloy have been going to Christ Church every tuesday for sevarl weeks and teaching the kids the fundementals of lacrosse.
They have been working with multiple classes from year two all the way to year five.
Every Tuesday they teach two classes and also been outside for lunch periods for all kids to try. The kids have been taught the fundementals of scooping, throwing, catching, and craddelling.
At this point in time all classes have played a mini game and been notified of the free clinic next weekend (saturday the 20th).
With all classes they have gotten them to play a mini game during the time. As for the lunch time session there have been kids converting from footy to try lacrosse and even the last session there was no footy being played and had roughly 30 kids in a massive game.
There has been a letter given to the school to go into this weeks parent letter notfiying them of the clinic and there will be a follow up Friday to make sure the letter is in the monday parents letter.

State League
Malvern vs Chadstone.
Result – Won 15-7
Without doubt the last 2 weeks wins have been the best this year and we have built into the Eltham game at home this week beautifully.
To score 22 goals for the first time in memory was fantastic, but the way we got them was even better.
Of the 22 goals scored 13 were assisted and that is the team offence we need to bring next week coupled with great riding, a fierce attack on the ball and the miserly defence we are now known for.
I am really confident we have the game plan, belief and players to take back the Bob Russell trophy in 2011 at the Town Hall.
If you needed any more reason to stand up on the day, I would like to remind everyone of exactly what 4 certain players at Eltham thought of Malvern as a club at the start of the year !
Sport is a great leveller and this week we have a chance not only to put them out of the playoffs but remind them “WE ARE MALVERN” and for 109 years been the most successful club in Australia and you disrespect us at you own peril…
It all starts on the training track 6.30 Tuesday night ready to go……………
Division 2
Malvern vs Footscray.
Result – Won Walkover
B Grade
Malvern vs Surrey Park.
Result – Won 17-4
The teams final game of their debut season was held at Surrey Park against another “novice” team, Chadstone / Caulfield.
Once again a large and vocal group of supporters were on hand to provide encouragement and support.
The team got off to a good start winning the ball out of the centre and creating many scoring opportunities.
Everyone was contributing and playing a good team game with plenty of ball and player movement creating space and opportunities for players to score.
There were some great team goals scored and we looked like keeping them scoreless until a goal virtually on the half time siren. Half time scores were Malvern 8 to 1.
The girls were really enjoying themselves on the field with everyone getting plenty of touches.
The second half once again saw us dominate in general ground play and the players started to look for team mates who either hadn’t scored on the day or for the year. Whilst we missed a number of scoring opportunities trying to share the scoring we still managed to score some great goals.
With an increase in the number of our turnovers, the opposition were also creating scoring opportunities and Leanne (Bruiser) Currie once again came up with some great saves.
The final score was a win 14 to 1, a great way to finish our debut season.
Goal scorers were Tara 4, Romy 4, Eleanor 2, Ang 2, Sarah and Jaimie 1 each.
Not through a lack of trying we also had shots on goal and near misses from Nina, Donna, Ally, Maddy, Katie and Rochelle.
The team should be very proud of what they achieved in their debut season. Their attitude and enthusiasm both at training and on game day was great, no matter what the situation or score line.
To see how far the skills of the players (many who had never before picked up a stick) develop since the start of the season is testament to the dedication, attitude and enthusiasm the players had.
I would also like to thank the loyal band of supporters who every week provided the team with plenty of encouragement and confidence.

Malvern vs MCC.
Result – Win 20-0
Great teamwork for the entire game this week. Everybody got involved and we had many goal scorers.
There were some great passages of play with the ball moving quickly.
With a quarter time score of Malvern 10, MCC 0 it was time to practice our plays and get the Backline up and running
so they will know what to do when they run down from Defence to Attack.
The talk was better but we still need to be louder on the field.
Our aim was to move the ball and cut. When we did this we scored very easily so let’s keep it up.
The MCC coach commented that we have some very good players but he was set back by our teamwork.
Let’s take that on board and work even harder on our teamwork.
All in all a good win and 4 points.
Malvern 20 defeated MCC 0
Also in regard to my request that everybody bring a friend to the Clinic?
I will want to know who you are all bringing on Thursday so make sure you all organise a friend for this day.

Under 12 Red’s
Malvern Red vs Knox.
Result – Win 10-0
Under 12 Black’s
Malvern Black vs Surrey Park Red.
Result – Draw 11-11
The Blacks travelled out to Surrey Park on Saturday and once again were not at full strength due to Ben playing in the Under 14’s.
Surrey only having 1 junior team was full to the brim with 16 kids against Malvern running with only 10.
It was a game of endurance as one team would drive towards goal only to be intercepted by the defence who would send the ball
back the other way only to have the same result happen again at the other end.
It was constant running up and down for both teams but Surrey got away to an early lead, leaving Malvern behind.
Tom Martin was the 1st half Goalie and stood his ground as the constant barrage of Surrey shots came his way.
Lochie and Tom combined together to have some great assist and goal combo’s together to get the scoreboard moving for Malvern
to make sure Surrey didn’t get too far ahead.
Half time and Thomas Bown took his turn in goals to face Surrey in the 2nd half.
The half time speech must have sunk in as Malvern seemed to step up to the plate and find another gear.
Everyone held their own as Malvern slowly chipped away at the Surrey score.
Louis was fighting hard and gave assists to his team mates Ally, Aaron and Nathan to click the scoreboard over.
Ashley and Jack ran well and came up with good contested ground balls against bigger Surrey kids.
At one stage Jack found himself open for a shot but unselfishly passed off to a team mate.
There was a humorous cupped hand call from Squeak..”Shoot Jack….shoot” to Jack who just gave an acknowledging grin.
Thursday night drills seem to work as Byron taking the centre position was giving some good outlet passes to his team mates
running off the wings giving Malvern the chance to pass and shoot for goal.
And score they did as Malvern closed the gap to bring the score level at 10-10.
In the last minute Surrey snuck a goal to go one up and take the win.
A great game to watch as both teams ran hard all day and I doubt if we were at full strength the results would have been the same.
