For now we have a lot of back issue reports, so sit down and have a look at these guys…
One gold star to Barnesy for being the most diligent author!! ; )

Malvern 13 def MCC9
Again with Patty dominating the face offs we were able to control the flow of the game with Josh playing out of the midfield proved a great result for us with his 3 goals and solid short stick defence. Robbie 5 points (2-3) was a solid contributor on the left side . Two goals each from Eddie, Trav and Chappy added to our tally. Brownie and Garrets defence match ups smothered MCC attack allowing ver few opportunities .

Malvern 18 def Eltham/Surrey/Footscray 0
Back after 2 weeks break we looked a little rusty early, but by 1/4 time we were more fluid leading 9 to 0 by 1/2 time. With Williamstown being our only threat the game structures have changed so now it is extremely important that every player follows the structure and team discipline at all times.
Spammy B 5-2,Aaron 5-2, Baker 4-2, singles to Harry, Sammy T and Isaac.
Tommy Bown did most of the facelift work and finished with 1-2. Mitch Reid was very good feeding all day and finished with 3 assists. With Ben back in goals Tim due back this week it will be full steam ahead.
Malvern 12 def Caulfield 8
Caulfield jumped out to a 2 goal lead but we hung in with patient offence and the best defensive line up all year.
At 1/2 we lead 6-4 again lead out of the midfield by Josh 3-2 and ably assisted by Robbie 3-1 we were able to hold the lead through the second half. Travis 2 G and his greatest importance is his control on setting up the 1/4/1 forward line .
A good improvement from last week MCC game but we will need to take it a step higher against Footscray this week.

Malvern 13 Caulfield 5
Sunshine greeted the Caulfield team, so too the waft of the muddy pitch centre.
The resilience of the Malvern lacrosse was on display. The absence of SL players on international duties and a handful of injuries had a cascade affect throughout the club. Div 3 stalwarts were co-opted by Div 1 and to fill the void the juniors stepped up as they always do.
Aaron Currie dominated the game and was clearly best afield. Mitch Reid and Mitch Baker were also in the votes. Pauly had a great game in the nets and coach Kon Mitsopoulos played a steadying hand amongst the tearaways on the forward line. Cam Scott made his presence felt around the ground and contributed 2 goals and 3 assists. Ryan Godber from U15s had a solid game as well.
With several father/son and brothers combinations and their families on the sidelines and cult figure Mal Reid the team has a good vibe about it.
We headed out to a brisk and sunny Chadstone for our Saturday morning clash.
Chadstone now have their own team, and although it was 11 on seven (7) we believe thoroughly in the quality of the skills and this is why we train the way we do ( focus on the basics).
From the beginning we knew we had control of the game, with our run, carry and possession ensuring we had opportunities to score.
Amelie, Riley (assist King) and Jake picked up some key ground balls, and provided plenty of possession for us.
Sam and the energetic Toby Bown brought a smile to our faces with their enthusiasm, and Seth helped out in goals and stood tall after receiving an accidental check during the game. Well done Seth.
It would be remiss of me to not highlight the consistent work ethic, team orientation, and relentless coverage of the entire ground by Will Rice (6 goals) and Liam Barnes (4 goals).
Both their skills on both sides of the body, shooting, catching, throwing and ground balls demonstrates a few years of hard and consistent training. Well done boys.
An 18-2 win.
Next week Surrey at home.
With thanks,
Adam Barnes
Division 1
After some rewarding wins recently, we hosted Melbourne Uni at home.
There is more of an air of confidence as early close losses have turned into wins.
In a measured and controlled way we led out to a 4-0 lead at quarter time.
Like any game this leveled out in the second and we took a 6-4 lead into the half.
Steve gave his all in the face off and was supported with the ‘presence’ of Mezz on the wings.
Eddy built up as the game was unfolding and with some solid defense we took a slight lead into the final quarter.
In a nail biting last quarter we held on with an 11-9 win.
We now sit a game out of the four with a solid clash to come at home next week v Chadstone.
With thanks,
Adam Barnes

Malvern 16 def Altona 5
We welcomed back Tim from the under 19 championships in Canada to some very cold windy weather.
Overall a reasonable game from end to end, we had a good spread of goal scorers with half of them being assisted Aaron 6-9, Sam 4-2, Tim 2-3, Mitch Baker 2-1, Mitch Reid 1-1, Tom 1-0, Isaac 0-1.
Now that we are getting to the pointy end of the season where the pressure builds in finals I am keen to see what we have learnt from being the top team all year.

Malvern 8 def by Footscray 14
This was always going to be very tough with 1 full midfield string out with injury.
Our def kept them to 14 goals really a pretty good effort considering they had the ball for 75% of the day. Our attack struggled to find the rhythm needed but still manage to finish with 8 goals. We have the bye this week then it will be cut throat between Camberwell/Eltham and our selves to finish in 4 th spot on the ladder. Nick 3-0, Josh 2-2,Rod 1-1, Will 1-1, Rowan1-0.
