See what you missed!!
The B Grade team played on Sunday against their foes and ‘runners up’ in the GF last year (Newport) and were unfortunate to register a loss.
With the team being ‘rebuilt’ by other players retiring or moving, we have some new blood that are coming along nicely.
Makes for an exciting rematch at home I think!
Past Players Day 2017
From the Editor
I’d just like to give a big ‘shout out’ to all the people that made last Saturday a huge success.
Without your dedication and time put in, the day would not have been a success.
Stephen Bown – Too numerous to mention ( Needs to delegate! )
Leanne Currie – Running the canteen non stop ( Missed seeing any games )
Adam Barnes / Pete Sherman / Sarah Bown / Aaron & Paige Currie
Janet Baker / Con Loulatzis / Lachie & Meg Bown
Lisa Smith / Sandra Campbell / Ann Graham / Brendon Farrell / Michael Bown
Michelle Godber / Pat McGrath Campbell
Also Sally Campbell for organising the coffee machine.
I know I’ve probably missed a couple ( Like the people who set up the ground?) and I do apologise but once I’m informed “this weekend” of my misses, I’ll make sure they get a plug! ; )
We are going to do some ‘select’ reports from games played the previous weekend so that the people who weren’t around for coaches corner on Saturday Night can get an idea of how the club is going.
So here is State League…

State League Malvern V Williamstown
The annual Malvern Past Players Day is always a season highlight.
We share this day with the Williamstown Lacrosse Club and their spirit and commitment to the day reflects the quality of the club and it’s people.
Many old timers came along and shared tales of past heroics. It was great to see some female past players too.
Thanks to the many volunteers who made this day a success – Leanne Currie, Sarah Bown, Anne Graham, Janette Baker to name just a few.
It is fair to say that this game meant a lot to new coach Eric Jenney. He was coaching against a team that he recently coached and a side that included his son.
The match was a real close contest with Malvern ending up one goal short at full-time. No-one likes honourable losses but it must be said that the boys played with great endevour and purpose. It is generally accepted that the team is playing better than it has for quite some time.
The team effort was even more special given the many injuries and absences the club faced on the day.
The white board told the story of about 20 players short and this had a cascade effect on the Division One and Three teams. Still, the club managed to field three teams which was a great effort.
Tim Graham and Paddy Mcgrath- Campbell gave the team plenty of grunt from the centre. New goalie Conrad Tracey had a good game.
It is no secret that the back line looks a little lean and it is hoped that the arrival of the overseas recruits may bolster the back end.
If the team can start winning a few, the boys have a real chance should they make it to the finals.
There is lots to like and to look forward to.
