Kids Clinic this Sunday!!

unnamed
This Sunday @ Menzies reserve we have another of the Jnr kids clinics.
These cover everything from the basic skills of passing and catching, to cradling and dodging.
If you’re a regular or a newbie who might want to try it out, come down at 9.30am and join the rest of the eager kids who are not letting their parents sleep in and get out and enjoy the day!
Oh and bring a friend..   ; )Pre season gains numbers!

Pre-Season training is in full swing now with 5 sessions under our belt.
Training at the Chadstone ground on Wednesday’s we have seen good numbers at each session along with the Juniors and Girls gathering momentum.
From the senior men aspect we have been running very hard incorporating stick skills at all times.
I would like to welcome Jarred Katzenberg, Eddie Vita, Madison Blair , Dan Crisafulli, Matt Davies and Trav Croll’s big mate Mitch to the line up for 2106. Great to have 6 new players to the club and with all of last year’s gang returning along with some rookies being a year older we are looking at doing some serious damage.
The sessions have been quite intense so far but let’s face it so are the games that lie ahead.
Most seem to be enjoying it and I can see the fitness level overall heading North.
We continue to work on stick skills as that area will never be perfect but we are lifting the
Bar in that area along with Field IQ.
Training is at Percy Treyvard reserve Chadstone at 6.30pm on Wednesday’s for the next 2 weeks and then it will go to Monday and Wednesday at same venue until season opener.
We have 1 scheduled practice match on 9th April which will be at the Town Hall
against the Under 18 Vic team. I am also planning a practice match the week prior 2nd April
against suitable opposition or it will be Intra Club at venue TBA.
It is now time for all of our players to start turning up even if you are planning to play
Div 1 or Div 3. Let’s all do the ring around and get everyone there.

Accommodation/work needed

As in previous years, we are putting the call out to ANYBODY that can help our visiting Internationals with either work and/or accommodation.
They come out with the desire to help our club ‘on and off’ the field with their experiences through college lacrosse.

This is fundamental in making Malvern Lacrosse a stronger club through the knowledge they share as being a part of our family.
What they show juniors, is the dedication to do well in lacrosse and more importantly, their school work, which has to be on ‘par’ as well!

We don’t want them come out and just drain their funds on just simply living week to week, so we’d like to help them out in this small way with a bed & work.
If you have a spare room or can provide them with some sort of work, we’d be interested in hearing from you.

Vale Rod Hopcraft

It is with regret that I must inform our members on the passing of Rod Hopcraft.

Rod was a devoted player at MLC and beyond his playing days was heavily involved in coaching and developing juniors at MLC.
I was one of those juniors and have a very clear memory of one particular Under 16 game that I played in against Chadstone leading up to the finals.

4 goals down at ¾ time I can still clearly remember Rod’s words and strategies that we took into the last quarter and got up by 2 goals to finish in the 4.

Rod and his family moved away from suburbia in later years and it was great to see him at last year’s past players day.

A gentleman at all times and a Highly Esteemed member of MLC.
We send our Love and Condolences to the Hopcraft Family from all at Malvern Lacrosse.

Gary Campbell.
