The boys continued to do what they have done all year WIN! This game was really important to them and they were determined to put on a good show in front of a big crowd.

They played their best team game for the year, all doing their part and playing the role that they were given by the coaches.

Alex Lvovsky was given the big job of holding Footscray’s state league player Peter Kwas, it was a big ask for a first year player but he was fantastic and certainly beat his opponent on the day. He had been well coached on how to check and play on him and Kwas only scored once. The defence held strong and shut out their other goal scorer in Joel Adams. Alex had his best game in goals and came up with the save time and again, they effectively couldn’t score and only shot the 2 goals for the game.

Darcy worked hard and took control of the centre giving us first use of the ball, he was certainly entertaining breaking the penalty box chair and amusing the crowd in the last quarter. The midgets stepped up as they had done all year, but today was especially hard for them after a devastating loss to Altona in the previous game. Without these boys we only have 9 players and certainly wouldn’t have been able to win a premiership, so a big thank you to you for being part of the team. The attack worked hard, Footscray have a very strong defence but our boys had been well drilled during training and many of the plays resulted in goals. Thank you to the many senior players who had helped out at training during the year and more importantly during the finals campaign. Your experience, knowledge and tips are invaluable to these kids and can only make them better players.

The coaches were brilliant and played a big part in this win, with their game strategy, direction and plays. Thank you to Curly and Joffa for a great year. There were many others that contributed to this win, a big thank you to Paddy Mac for training the team every Thursday night, Rod Ansell for being our club ref during the year and doing the grand final, Tony Huxham our team manager and Joe Maher and Rita Joy for scoring.

It was fantastic to see so many Malvern people there to support both teams so early in the morning!

Well done boys!!! The Malvern Lacrosse Club is proud of you.

Thanks to all the Malvern Lacrosse Club members and the boys’ families and friends who came to Chadstone to support the team. It was really appreciated.

U/14’s 2013

An unfortunate end to a fantastic season. Thanks to Ally Campbell at the start of the season. With out her we would not have had a team. We got preseason started early as a majority of the players had never worn full gear. It proved to be a good idea as we got off to a great start to the season. The improvement from each player throughout the season was pleasing to see and we ended with a well balanced team of players who all contributed during games. Thanks to Alan Datson for umpiring, Dave Chapman for scoring all the people who helped with training and supporting the boys through the year. Squeak

SILL – Southern Indoor Lacrosse League

Chadstone, Caulfield, Malvern & MCC Lacrosse Clubs have joined ranks to set up an Indoor Competition in the Southern Suburbs.

The philosophy of this competition is to provide a lacrosse alternative over the spring and summer months flowing in to the field season next year. Teams can have up to 8 players and must consist of 1 adult minimum on the field and up to 3 adults with only 2 on the field at one time. This competition is about Junior development and fun.

SILL will be allocating 1 court at 6.30-7.30pm each week to enable players to come up and practice / learn the game and also learn how to referee and we will endeavor to provide a variety of experienced players to assist during some of these sessions.

Season 1 will commence on Wednesday 30th October and finish on Wednesday 18th December and it will be held at the Caulfield Campus of Monash University.

This season will run for 8 weeks. Match times will be either a 6.30pm start or a 7.30pm start and duration of matches are approximately 50 minutes including breaks.

Each team will need to supply a referee when rostered. This occurs approx once every 2nd week.

Team registration fee tba

Please contact us at sillcomp00@gmail.com ASAP if you are interested in registering a Team or joining a Team as we can only accommodate a certain number of Teams for this first season
