Match Reports

U16 Grand Final preview.

The big day is nearly here. Will our U16 boys be Premiers and Champions for 2013?
They are injury free, rested after a week off and keen to show Footscray why Malvern has been on top of the ladder all year.
Our 9 U16 boys have got the skills, manpower and determination to go all the way. Add the U14 midgets to the list and hopefully they are unstoppable and celebrating an U16 Premiership on Saturday.
So please get down to Chadstone Lacrosse Club this Saturday morning and support the boys in their goal to win the Grand Final.
Good, Hard Malvern Lacrosse Each and Every Day.

State League Report

Malvern 10 Footscray 16
Won 13 Lost 4 games for the year and finished in 4th place

Congratulations to Footscray Lacrosse Club on a winning through to the preliminary final against Williamstown next week and hope Patty Mack and Dan Stiglich both make speedy recoveries from 2 serious leg injuries during what was a strange game.

After winning the first 2 face offs and looking up and about I think it would be fair to say losing Patty Mack in the first 10 minutes was a game changer and our thoughts go out to Patt for a speedy recovery. He will be back better than ever some time next year and at some point the club needs to organise a ceremonial burning of the number 6 playing top for State League…..

Special mention on the day to James Garrett for playing with a broken hand and Josh Naughton for playing with a back complaint and even though we lost the game l cant fault the players endeavours and attitude it just didn’t work out for us on the day as a group and sometimes the harder you try the worse it gets. I would like to thank all the Malvern Family for the fantastic support from the sidelines on Saturday and for the 5 years l have been State League Coach, l am sorry Murray and l couldn’t get you the ultimate reward.

This is my final Report as Malvern’s State League Coach and next year the club will have a fresh new coach with a different philosophy and style and hopefully he or she can build on the finals we have been in the last 2 years and deliver the club the ultimate success. It is an exciting future at Malvern with Toby and Bill Exton, Nick Chapman, Jordy and Darcy Campbell and Harry Butler to name a few that will soon join Gaz, Josh, Patt, Luca, Dave, Callum, Fish and Lance over the next few years to form a great Malvern outfit.

My personal thanks especially to Murray Keen, Rod Ansell, the Malvern Committee, Curly and Rita Joy, Shane Koppens, Dave Gal, Tanner Smith, Collin Molloy, Greg Higgins, Paul Tortora, Joe Forster and to the club as a whole for allowing me the honour of being State League Coach of such a respected club.

Now ! ….. Where’s my golf clubs??

Div1

#redandblack#onemorestep. Which is what div1 achieved this season knocking off Moreland (last years runners up) 3 out of 4 times and only being narrowly beaten by willy both times this season. It was in the end both rewarding and disappointing. There was a great mix of experience and youth which I think is important when trying to develop young players for state league. As the season progressed a number of players spent time with us and it is great to see them taking their opportunity when required in state league. Thanks to Pete for scoring, westy for umpiring and Shannon for helping with the coaching.
