B Grade Women’s

Sunday saw the girls’ playing at the well maintained grounds at MCC.
A warmed up muddy Bruiser did a ripper job in the first half giving a 2-8 lead at the break.

There was plenty of movement on the field the girls putting all their training drill into practice. Kate’s favorite, the long pass, created open space, there was lots of work around the fan, holding, passing, cutting all worked together to create space and opportunity for our goal scorers and plenty there were Am’s, Sarah, Katie B, Tara, Rommy, Michelle, with a perfected roll dodge and the welcomed return of Elle all bringing their hard work to game day.

Once again Shelly & Ivy proved they are a driving force in defence. Fantastic intercepts and ground ball fighting saw the girls bring the ball back to the attack line seeing the final score to a convicing 7-15.

Anne Marie was the deserving winner of the belt this week displaying great movement up and down the ground and her ability to win the ground balls.

Next week will be a big game against Surrey at Surrey which the girls will be all training hard for this week.

And not forgetting Donna’s great work as ref for the first time without her shadow. Thanks Donna, great job!!

Under 13’s girls

The u13 girls came up against McKinnon on Sunday, both teams match up quite evenly and this game was the decider as they had won 1 game and we had won the other.

Even after a bad start the team was able to come back and show McKinnon what we are made off. Lachie Bown in goals cam up with some brilliant 1 on 1 saves and some game changing clears. Brooke Reid took some awesome split dodges and some nice goals Emma Davey had some excellent one on one defense shutting out their key player, which was a real game changer.

With players unable to play because of other commitments we had Jake and Ryan play with us, both played excellent games. Overall the girls came up with a draw but fought hard for every ground ball. The girls have improved dramatically already over the season and with only a few games they are bound to keep on improving.

Malvern 10 def Footscray 6

Top of the ladder played 2nd placed .
Malvern started the game with 9 on the field and it was pretty much goal for goal with the Footscray defence using their extra man to advantage.
Halftime saw the arrival of Azza, followed soon after by Mitch Reid and Tom.
The extra man power helped Malvern get ahead and win by 4 goals.
The goals were shared around by only a few players this week but overall it was a good team performance leading up to the finals.
