Subs need to be paid ASAP. See Karen Meredith for payment details as finals are approaching.

State League

State Leagues march towards finals is going along nicely.
With the return of Luca from the U19’s Worlds and JB and ‘Newbie’ Sammy Anglicas from the U18’s Carnival, this gives
the coaches a good but hard time picking from more than ’16’ heading into the final leg of the home and away series before finals.
30/6 Win:Malvern 17 – Camberwell 7
7/7   Loss:Malvern 9 – Surrey Park 12
14/7 Win:Malvern 13 – Chadstone 8
21/7 Win:Malvern 16 – Altona 3
28/7 Win:Malvern 12 – Caulfield 5

Division 1

With inconsistent numbers from week to week the work load has been placed heavily on the regulars to take the field.
Squeak holds the centre position and runs himself ragged every game.(doesn’t even come off when you call him! lol )
The return of players from o/s and interstate will overflow S/L and spill into Div 1 for added depth.
Also ‘TAKA’ will be a bolster for the team as he returns from an injury and keen to play.
Big thanks to ‘First Gamer’ Mal Reid who stepped in against Melb Uni and did a great job at occupying his man in attack and then
look rather intimidating sporting a long pole in defence. (Apparently already looking at equipment for next year!)
30/6 Loss Malvern 9 – Surrey Park 17
14/7 Loss Malvern 10 – MCC 14
21/7 Win Malvern 12 – Melb Uni 11
With a couple of byes and bonus points they are actually sitting 4th on the table.

Division 3

Sitting at the top of the ladder despite having similar lack of consistent numbers due to availability and injury.
Always manage to have a team on the field and come away with the points to put themselves in a comfortable position.
Coming towards the finals I’m sure a few heads will pop up making themselves available for team selection.
Big thanks to the ‘regulars’ who do the ring around on a thursday night getting guys available for Saturday.
30/6 Win Malvern 10 – Camberwell 0 ( Walkover )
14/7 Win Malvern 17 – MCC 15
21/7 Win Malvern 17 – Melb Uni 9
28/7 Win Malvern 9 – Knox 4

B Grade

The girls have worked hard to get themselves in a position for a finals campaign.
Excellent work for only their 2nd year and a good majority of the team only starting this year!
The 1st year girls have adapted so quickly that they look like they have been in the team from the start and each week give it their
all under the constant barage of instructions from ‘Rocket’.
The last 2 weeks has seen them play Sat and Sun games to catch up on deferred and rescheduled games.
Their season all hinges on this Sunday’s outcome of Williamstown vs Footscray!
If Williamstown win then they make the 4 on percentage! Watch this space…
8/7 Win Malvern 15 – Melb Uni 4
15/7 Loss Malvern 8 – Surrey Park 14
21/7 Loss Malvern 4 – Footscray 15
22/7 Loss Malvern 9 – Williamstown 12
28/7 Win Malvern 12 – Camberwell 11
29/7 Win Malvern 20 – Eltham 7

Under 18’s

Combined team called ‘Super Supremes’ made up of 5 Malvern boys with others from Chadstone and Camberwell.
Only a few games to report on as players have been o/s or in the interstate carnival.
30/6 Loss Super Sup 3 – Williamstown 20
21/7 Win Super Sup (bye)
28/7 Loss Super sup 0 – Footscray 10
Here’s a run down on our boys:
Luca: U19 Australian player,S/L
JB: U18 rep,Allstar and S/L
Sammy: U18 rep,Div 1,S/L
Hamish: Div 1 (Potential S/L)
Garin: First year player who has picked up the game so quick and will be playing Div 1 next year at this rate.
No doubt next year these guys will be pushing S/L and Div 1 players for a spot in their respective teams.
Exciting times ahead…

Under 16’s

The Under 16 ‘juggernaut’ keeps rolling on. Each week they are faced with a new rival but account for themselves every Saturday.
Good to see young ‘Chappo’ back running around after his forced sideline injury ( from Football !) after 6 weeks.
Curly and Goon are grooming these young men to be the ‘Talent’ of Malvern Lacrosse in years to come.
Representatives in the ‘Southern’ team shows the depth of talent this team has……finals await.
30/6 Win Malvern 14 – Chadstone 9
21/7 Win Malvern 14 – Northcote 4
28/7 Win Malvern 21 – Eltham/MCC 6
For a longer more detailed report see Con Loulatzis ; )

Under 14’s

Another combined team made up from players from Malvern,MCC and Surrey Park.
4 reps from Malvern slot in nicely to the team and are part of the ‘core group’.
They have been successful this year and have only hit hurdles being Footscray (played twice) and Williamstown (once).
The 2nd time playing Footscray was a much closer game as they had more experience playing together and worked well.
Should be an interesting time come finals to see if it all ‘clicks’ at the right time.

Under 12 Black’s

The Blacks have had their shares of wins and loses but has proven that when all players are available they can play some great lacrosse.
Dale and Gaz are always listening to their input, as they like to tell them of positions they should play.
As many will be going to Under 14’s next year, it’s an exciting time for them as their skills they’ve developed will help them
as they take on the more traditional style of game.
30/6 Malvern Black 8 – Malvern Red 8 (what’s the odds?)
21/7 Malvern 16 – Altona 8 (great coaching from a special guest coach ; )
28/7 Malvern 11 – Footscray 14

Under 12 Red’s

The ‘Pint Sized Warriors’ of Malvern.
Many of the players you see today started from these ranks.
Under the guidance of Squeak and Joe, these kids are being taught the basic skills early on.
Each week they go out there and no matter how big the opposition, they give it there best.
They come off smiling, win or lose and are happy to be apart of the team.
30/6 Malvern Reds 8 – Malvern Blacks 8 ( think the parents had fun that day too)
21/7 Malvern 3 – Altona 7
28/7 Malvern 3 – Caulfield 10
